Date with your Demons
Do you think I don’t see what you’re doing to yourself? You’ve got no one around you being honest, Everyone’s either turned a blind eye or joined you.
Oh I’m so sorry how rude of me, I haven’t even introduced myself yet.
It’s me, your inspiration. How have you been since you last compared yourself to me? Did you ask that girl out or start that project yet? No, I thought so. What have you done, if anything meaningful at all, that you’d like to tell me about then? Now quick! Think of something that might impress me. Oh nice, Your best-friend bought a house AND got that promotion. I’m so happy for you, that must make you feel great, using your friends accomplishments to make you feel better about yourself. When are you going to start thinking for yourself, do things for yourself, see the world for yourself. It better happen quick or your life won’t get better than this. Have you thought about this? Oh… you’ve been avoiding it? I wonder what else you’ve been avoiding. You know what, let’s get into that right now while we have the time to change who we are, and before it’s too late.
Blah blah blah, it’s all bullshit isn’t it, this is who you are and you’re happy living like this! Here, I know what will fix it! Move to another state, leave it all behind because it’s your friends that are to blame! Please just shut up, I can understand more about you in the pauses between your words than the actual words themselves.
It’s okay, slow down, breath. I can see you’re getting anxious by how much your hand shakes while trying to take, yet another drink… Now that I think of it, wasn’t it your New Years resolution to stop drinking?
There must be a reason why you’re like this… right? What about when that doctor diagnosed you with ADHD. It all makes sense now! That’s why you’re like this! Ah, labels makes things so much easier :) imagine if you knew that the signs for ADHD are exactly the same as sleep deprivation. Wouldn’t that be scary! That would mean all your problems come as a direct result from your poor life choices, rather than something that is out of your control.
